Los Gatos is indeed a city (town, actually) in California.  It
is located at the foot of the coast range and is part of Silicon
Valley.  It was named "The Cats" after the mountain lions which
were allegedly common here in the middle of the nineteenth century.

    au contraire. if s/he had been REALLY zealous, s/he would have translated
the C code into Pascal :-)
     (after all, Blaise Pascal WAS a *FRENCH* mathematician / philosopher).
