[comp.os.minix] Minix Networking on 3Com boards ?

wtoomey@gara.une.oz (Warren Toomey) (05/31/89)

Can anybody tell me if Minix will network using 3 Com ethernet boards?
Our department is getting a networked microlab with 3Com stuff, so I'd
like to play with a Minix network :-)

Before I go, I should mention that my friend Callum has started to
do some Clam hacking, so expect another Official Clam patch to come
out soon, when I get the time. It fixes a few small bugs, and also
prevents Clam chewing away on the stack as it is currently doing.

Also, I've just knocked up a version of dump(8) & restore(8) for Minix,
using floppy disks instead of tapes. It's not in a format compatible with
Unix, but it's simple! I'll be posting it soon, too.

					Cheers all!

We have a few machines with the 3Com "IE" board (part number 3C500) and
Minix's Amoeba Ethernet driver does NOT work with it. The system panics
when booted.
