Hello all, Recently, I posted a little enquiry concerning the media compatibility of the two Minix versions, namely MINIX-ST and MINIX-PC. Several people answered, and it seems that both disk versions *could* be made compatible, with a little effort on the ST side (it seems logical, since the ST TOS disk format was also made IBM compatible with a little effort). So, if there ever is a new MINIX-ST version (such as 1.2 or maybe 2.0), I propose that it use the same disk format as the IBM version. Of course, there should be included a little utility that reads/writes 'old-style' MINIX-ST disk. It seems that this should not be too hard to do. On the other hand, someone on the list said that the ST format was 'enhanced' with respect to the PC format. Could one of the Minix-ST-Wizards expand a bit on this? (Johan ?). I really believe that it is a good enhancement to the functionality of Minix to be able to swap disks between the various implementations. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bitnet: VBRANDT@DBNUAMA1 (will go away late '89) Volker A.
