I'm trying to boot Minix on my sun386i (without much success so far). I have a method to copy the release 5 1/4" disks onto my sun workstation as a disk image (sequence of bytes). The sun386i has 3 1/2 floppy disks (1.44 megabytes). It high density media (2.0 Megabytes) work at 1.44 megabytes but not a 720K bytes. What steps need to be taken to build a bootable release for 3 1/2" disks from 5 1/4" disks. I really don't know much about these 3 1/2" disks (I've seen various diffs to the floppy drivers). Do I have to make a current kernel + bootdisk (i.e. 1.3d) before I can have a bootable 3 1/2" image. Any help is appreciated (i.e. anyone else out there who has done this?). marty ARPA: leisner.henr@xerox.com GV: leisner.henr NS: leisner:wbst139:xerox UUCP: hplabs!arisia!leisner

This might not be applicable, since I know nothing about Suns, but her it is: It was very easy to make a bootable copy of Minix for my Toshiba 1000 (fairly PC compatible laptop with a single 720K disk). I attached a 360k 5 1/2 and used DOS DISKCOPY (might have been COPYDISK, I get the 2 confused) to copy the Minix discs track for track to the 720K. Sounds too easy, but it worked for this particular combination.
