I have a method to copy the release 5 1/4" disks onto my sun workstation as a disk image (sequence of bytes). The sun386i has 3 1/2 floppy disks (1.44 megabytes). It high density media (2.0 Megabytes) work at 1.44 megabytes but not a 720K bytes. What steps need to be taken to build a bootable release for 3 1/2" disks from 5 1/4" disks. I really don't know much about these 3 1/2" disks (I've seen various diffs to the floppy drivers). Direct image copy. I used dd in an 386 PC running Microport UNIX and trasfered it via ethernet to our Roadrunner. Then I put it to 720K disk using dd. You can use direct copy to 1.44Mb disk, too. Do I have to make a current kernel + bootdisk (i.e. 1.3d) before I can have a bootable 3 1/2" image. No if you'll copy boot, root and usr diskette (you'll need 3 3"5 disk). All my experience based on test to boot Minix 1.1 under VP/IX on SUN386i. Cheers Mikko
