Help! I am in the process of upgrading my 1.1 system to 1.2 so that I can get it to 1.3 and I am having some really severe problems. I was able to get the upgrade stuff from the archives, in a round about way, and was able to apply the diffs with only a slight amount of problems. I was also given a new compiler and library portion (looks like just the assembler stuff). Before I realized that the new library routines were essential to the new compiler, I compiled my system (commands and kernel) with the 1.1 compiler. Some of the routines will work, and some will not. After compiling everything up with the 1.1 stuff, I decided to figure out how to make the new compiler work and discovered the new routines. I then compiled up all of the library routines with the new compiler and added the new routines from the new library. I can now get programs to compile and link properly now - sort of. Some of the programs I compile will die with an invalid trap <16 or some such thing and abort. One of these programs happens to be 'make'. I have not yet re-built my kernel with the new compiler, and I am wondering if this would make a difference or not. If someone out there who has had some experience with this or might know what my problem is, I would be greatfull for any help that may be given. The problem also may be that I have a munged compiler. If anyone could send me a known working 1.3 compiler, that might help as well. Thanks, -- Brian R.
