[comp.os.minix] MINIX-ST and Supra drives

mboen@nixpbe.UUCP (Martin Boening) (08/21/89)

Sorry for posting this here, but my mail failed three times and I hate to
leave people waiting for answers. So please bear with me.
There follows the mail I sent off three times.

Hello Andres,
After trying three times to get to you via mail, I'm posting what I wrote
to you:

Maybe this gets others to answer your question too.

So long, you all

There seems to be three vintages of SUPRA.
The OLD ones never seemed to run MINIX (That is to say there were interrupt
problems).

The INTERMEDIATE ones seemed to require a change in the MINIX driver to
change timing. Supra supplied the changes and they were posted long ago.

The NEWER ones (with fan) and definitely with a DMA out connector seem to
work OK.

Supra can describe 12 partitions on a disk, Standard Atari (and MINIX) do
only 4. As Supra uses the same first 4, it is compatible. ONLY you cannot
access the remaining 8 partitions.

I posted a while back a simple change to stwini.c that will deal with
all 12 partitions. If you missed this, or want it, send mail.
