Sorry for posting this here, but my mail failed three times and I hate to leave people waiting for answers. So please bear with me. There follows the mail I sent off three times. --- Hello Andres, After trying three times to get to you via mail, I'm posting what I wrote to you: >Hi Andres, > >> Do you know if vanilla MINIX on an ST handles SUPRA hard disk drives >> correctly? I'd hate to screw up my disk and have to reformat.... >> > >Hmm. Can't say I do. There was something about supra drives in this news >group but since I don't have one I didn't follow it to closely. You might want to look at that. > >So long. > > There seems to be three vintages of SUPRA. The OLD ones never seemed to run MINIX (That is to say there were interrupt problems). The INTERMEDIATE ones seemed to require a change in the MINIX driver to change timing. Supra supplied the changes and they were posted long ago. The NEWER ones (with fan) and definitely with a DMA out connector seem to work OK. Supra can describe 12 partitions on a disk, Standard Atari (and MINIX) do only 4. As Supra uses the same first 4, it is compatible. ONLY you cannot access the remaining 8 partitions. I posted a while back a simple change to stwini.c that will deal with all 12 partitions.
