I recently started a unix user's group and I'm trying to find an economical way for the members that don't have unix to have their own unix systems. Minix seems to be ideal, but I don't know enough about it to recommend it to them. I have a few questions if someone is willing to help. 1) Prentice-Hall seems to have three versions of Minix. One is for a "640k PC" and another a "512k PCAT". Why is it that the pc based version is allowed more memory than the AT version? 2) I had heard that Minix was at first a floppy based system but was later adapted for hard drives. Is this correct? Can Minix be run on hard drives? 3) Another one was that Prentice-Hall doesn't support updates or anything else with regard to Minix. If so, where do the updates come from and where can we get them? 4) One last question. I run several Xenix systems and I can partition a hard drive under Xenix to run dos on one partition and Xenix on the other. Can this be done with Minix? I appreciate any help you all are willing to give. Thanx a lot.....
