[comp.os.minix] Why is there no fdopen

I can't use certain other functions in libc.a (for instance popen())
that apparently uses fdopen() and _exit(). The diskette that contains
the sources to the kernel was damaget when I got it, and I have to wait
at least a month to get a new one so I can't look at the source. Can
somebody help me?
