I just put a new 80Mb disk in my machine with 12Mb for Minix. Of course, the Minix partition has a couple bad tracks, which I located with 'diskcheck'. I proceeded to type the bad block numbers into 'badblocks' and figured everything was all right. Now I find with 'fsck' that badblocks took the wrong blocks out of the free list and put the right blocks into the .Bad file's inodes. It looks like badblocks modified the first block of the free block list instead of fixing the second block of the list, since it didn't handle the blocks with numbers greater than 8191. Did anyone fix 'badblocks' to handle disks larger than 8Mb? I hope fsck will successfully repair the damage. -- Guy Helmer AT&T: (605) 256-5315 Dakota State University Computing Services (605) 256-6411 BITNET: HELMER@SDNET
