We have recently acquired an Emulex SC21/B1 disk controller and a CDC 9762 disk drive. The Emulex controller is supposed to emulate a DEC RJM02 disk subsystem. We are having problems with this configuration, and each company claims their hardware is O.K. We are running V7 Unix. The problem is that we get ECC errors on different sectors at different times. If you reformat the pack, or do a mkfs, the ECC errors move to new positions. 80% of the time these errors are on track boundries. I have no idea what is causing the error, unless it is some small piece of protocol the driver is not following. Does anyone out there have a similar configuration? Does anyone know what is wrong?
