I have a kernel w/ Howard Johnson's modifications for running w/out RAM disk directly from drive (I have root directly on /dev/hd4). Everything works fine except that I'm not sure what procedure to use to shutdown the system: saying sync a couple of times is clearly not adequate since fsck finds problems when I reboot. What's the proper procedure? or is there one yet?
