Date: Tuesday, 29 Jun 1982 02:14-PDT This sort of constant hassle with lock files just goes to show that it is a ridiculous way to do it, especially when putting a simple locking mechanism in the kernel is so easy and takes care of so many cases so simply. Let us hope that such a mechanism eventually makes it into all the versions of Unix around.
