I will leave this to Joe Pickert, since he did the port.
To avoid having the mailer complain about too much included text, here are
the answers to the homework assignment #2.

1. La prevenzione delle situazioni di stallo - deadlock prevention
2. L'hardware degli orologi - clock hardware
3. File condivisi - shared files
4. Canali coperti - covert channels
5. I-nodi - I-nodes.
6. Directory e cammini - directory and paths
7. Lo swapping - swapping
8. Gestione della memoria con mappa di bit - memory management with bit maps
9. Politiche di allocazione locale anziche globale - local and global
   alloc policies
10. Interfaccia a livelli - interface level

line #4 is quite famous of course.
When the Italian astronomer Schaparelli (sp?)discovered markings
on Mars, he called them "canali" which means channels inItalian.
It does not connote "artificial or man-made."
When that got mistranslated into English as "canals" the Sci Fri writers
went ape and beganwriting about little green men.
