[comp.os.minix] 1.3 on two machines

anderson@vms.macc.wisc.edu (Jess Anderson) (12/27/89)

Well, my 1.3 (AT version) arrived from PH today, and as I
was at the office, I thought what the hell, even if 1.1
wouldn't even boot in this machine, why not try it? Glory
be, it works!

Keeper of the records, this is for you.

1.3 runs from floppy on Club American 386/33 with Sigma
Designs L-View Plus monitor in hercules emulation mode.
Didn't try the good old HD, though, figuring it was too
much to hope for a SCSI disk to work right.

Now I can say it works at home (1.1 did too), but I've never
seen my machine on the compatibility list:

1.3 runs from floppy on Everex 1800B (an AT clone) with
   Everex Micro Enhancer EGA video.

One little problem, though:

I have a 1.2 MB floppy and a 360K floppy, so needless to say
I can't backup my original disks floppy to floppy directly.
As soon as I get the hard disk going (assuming I succeed:
it's a Toshiba MK56F (10 heads, 17 sectors, 830 cylinders,
so I'm going to recompile at_wini, right?), I assume I can
make backup floppies easily enough. But until then, looks
like I'm stuck, right?
