Hi out there. I followed the discussion on booting Minix from the HD with great interest, as I have interest in doing so. Also I seem to remember the original question concerning the eradication (or reducing) the size of the Ram disk. I have no need of the RAM disk being 240K. It only has to be 100K at the most. How do I reduce the size? I hope that I don't have to recompile the system, because I only have 512K at the present time, and I can't even compile a small program let alone a monsterous thing such as the minix kernel. A couple of other questions: 1. Why can I only get 5 meg out of a 10 meg Disk partition. It's the same for both partitions. (Same number of cylinders). When I say mkfs /dev/hd1 10000 (Approx. 10 meg) it says cannot write block, etc. but mkfs /dev/hd1 5162 (or so) it works fine! 2. Can I compile Minix programs with TurboC and use them in the Minix environment? It says in the book (or it appears to say) that you can. How *exactly* is this done? Thanks in advance. ------------ matthew1@stretch.UUCP No flames please. (For whatever reason that you might have to flame me!)
