In some versions of make there is a syntax for specifying the entry points
of archive members. Thus arc.a((main)) stands for the archive member with
main as an entry point.  The code was in the V7 make but not documented,
it was documented in 4bsd, and not in System 3. I am trying to find out
if this is a widely used "feature" and if it is worth the hassle to maintain
