Under 1.3: I've had some problems with my hard disk. I have two minix partitions, hd2 and hd3. Despite having used badblocks to mark all the blocks diskcheck found (180 of them!), I've run into failures writing to these devices: unrecoverable disk error on device 3/2 (or 3/3), block nnnn, where the block numbers so identified are on the bad blocks list and recorded as already marked if one attempt to mark them again. So far, I've coped by writing progressively smaller files (with distinct names like xxx.000) until I don't get the disk error. That seems to work, tho I may be fooling myself. But maybe badblocks isn't doing quite what it's supposed to do, or maybe something else is flakey with my stuff. ==Jess Anderson===Academic Computing Center=====Univ.
