I am a beginner at minix and am using the version 1.2 disk set I received long ago. I am trying to import the hd_minix files that I got from a host unix machine with my PC. The medium I use for this is therefore MSDOS disks (formatted under 3.3 if this matters at all). One problem is with the minix DOSREAD command. It produces corrupted minix files, for example, ascii files imported with the -a option are unreadable under minix. Are there known problems with this command? Next is the fact that I hate to think of the work involved in upgrading to 1.3 by this method. Are there better ways of getting files from the MSDOS side to the minix side of a stand-alone PC? Finally I have an XT with a 5.25 drive and a 3.5in drive. It is very difficult working with the one 5.25in I have. Are there minix drivers for 3.5in drives. Thank you in advance for your help.
