[comp.os.minix] My term sleeps

IZPH%MUSICB.MCGILL.CA@vm1.cc.mcgill.ca (IZPH000) (02/14/90)

I tried to run term (v1.5.0) under Minix v1.5.0 using a 2400 SmartOne modem.

#term /dev/tty1 2400 8

I issued the following commands to the modem

start:

atz
(OK)
at s7=45 s0=0 v1 x1
(OK)
atdp#######
(the phone went off hook;
the number ####### was dialed;
####### answered;
a stream of "noise coming" back to the modem ;
term went to sleep, didn't bother to copy from /dev/tty1 to stdout ;)

kill:

So, term was killed.
And called to work again. This time, the commands issued to the modem was not
echoed at all.
A cold reboot restored the same sequence from start: .
A warm reboot just goto kill: .

One question, is this because of my modem (it worked fine for telix and pcws,
pc work station connecting ibm/pc to ibm/vm) or I didn't use term properly.
Please advise.

Thank you in advance.

Phi-Ho Hoang.
