Hello everyone,
I am a newcomer to the Minix world.
I would like some help concerning upgrading my copy of Minix 1.2
to Minix 1.3. I have the files from bugs.nosc.mil (I believe its
called d1.2-1.3.tar.Z, or something similar, and I have the rearrange
and help file). I even got a file which provides help on upgrading
from 1.2 to 1.3. (from rheffel@cs2.wsu.edu)
But what all the help files I've read fails to disclose is the
directory structures I should have, and where certain files should be.
I have an AT, and I have the AT version of Minix 1.2. I have
a hard drive, and a 1.2 meg floppy drive.
I have created a Minix filesystem using partition #2 of
my hard drive (/dev/hd2) and I mount it when I load in the root
filesystem (I modified rc to mount the hard drive partition by
removing the mounting of /usr from the disk drive and do the
mounting from the hard drive using /etc/mount /dev/hd2 /usr).
The hard drive contains the same directories and files as
the /usr diskette contains.
I would like to know what extra directories should be created,
what files from other diskettes should I put on the hard drive, and
if other disks need to be mounted. I would like to know what
directory should I un-tar the d1.2-1.3.tar file in. I like to know
when I use rearrange, what does it expect to be mounted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
