Those of us who have been hoping that the 32-bit version of Minix would come bopping across the network one of these days should note with interest that the Mach project at Carnegie Mellon University has announced the availability of an 80386 version of Mach. To quote from their documentation: "Mach 2.5 i386 has the same kernel features as the Mach 2.5 systems for the Vax, Sun and IBM RT platforms. The programs and libraries are 4.3BSD-TAHOE....." Minix is, of course, utilized by different people for different reasons, so this is of interest to probably a small percentage of the net. On the other hand, it does provide a complement to Minix, so I thought it would be worthwhile posting.... -- John W. Before you tout MACH as competition for MINIX you should look not only at the user base it attracts but also at it's price tag. bill gunshannon 702WFG@SCRVMSYS.BITNET
