I've been using something like Shoelace for three month on my ST. Basically,
I switch on my ST (with Minix boot disk in drive), wait for a while, and
login. So root and / are on the same disk. Here are the features of it:

- Loads /minix.img from a minix filesystem.
- Usable as an external program (C:\MINBOOT.PRG F:, and here it starts)
- Usable as a boot sector on either single or double sided disks.
- Simple command (mkboot) to create a bootable minix Filesystem.

With my patched fs (no wait for the root device), and a clock, boot is as
painless as possible. It doesn't boot from the .mix files, however. Currently,
it's 1.1ST compatible, but I'm rewriting it for 1.5 (no bss in minix.img). I'll
post both versions when I'm done with it (btw, gather2 is nearing completion.
I've still a nasty illegal instruction to iron out, otherwise it's fine. Post
next week to the minix referees).

    Vincent
