I looked in builtins.c and found that around line 1699, where the bug is, the code was quite different from the code the patches try to fix. Maybe it's already been patched by someone. It has been fixed by simply moving a }, but has been changed quite extensively (?) I'd like to repeat my request to FSF for them to post the minix fixes for bash-1.05.
