[comp.os.minix] Questions on Minix uucp

rdc30med@nmrdc1.nmrdc.nnmc.navy.mil (LCDR Michael E. Dobson) (05/25/90)

I have successfully installed the MicroWalt uucp, wmail amd umail packages
under Minix 1.5.10, a very big thanks to Fred, Peter and all the others
who contributed to these packages. Too bad they didn't make it into the
1.5 distribution :-(

They seem to work but I am having some difficulties getting them to work
the way I want them to. I want to automaticly poll several systems for work
such as rmail and file xfers. I added crontab entries like:

0 1 * * * /usr/lib/uucp/uucico -shostname -x1

for each system, spacing them by 30 min or so. The sytems get called and
the mail gets transferred but it gets stuck in /usr/spool/uucp Remote file
xfers seem to be requested, but Minix uucp never starts the xfer. If I
manually run /usr/lib/uucp/uuxqt as root after uucico is done, mail gets
posted to the mbox of the user.

So question 1: how do I set up to force rmail execution at time of trasnfer?

question 2: what else needs to be done to allow file transfers to go?

On my Sys V system, this is handled by uusched (I think) which we don't have.

Thanks in advance,

Mike Dobson
