>The current attitude of some people in the USA regarding net.internat is, >as is often the case, arrogant and dismissive. Their position speaks >eloquently of the need to propagate the idea (which they so often blithely >ignore) that the good ole US of A is *not* the World. Your attitude is arrogant and dismissive! You assume that the reason net.internat was nuked is that it originated in europe, while ignoring the entire discussion in net.news.group explaining why is was rmgrouped. Either: 1) You think that we are all anti-european bigots putting up a smoke-screen and lying about why we rmgrouped the message, that reason being that WE HATE YOU. (If this is your opinion, I have no use for you so don't bother replying.) 2) You classify Gene Spafford thusly, and do not believe his reasons for his actions are sincere. See above parenthetical comment. 3) You are possibly as bigotted you seem to think we are, in that you lump us all together (exactly who is this "they" that you refer to?) and ignore what we say when it disagrees with the biases you choose to hold (a rather common pattern, as it is the only way bigots can keep from reforming themselves). You seem to think that the european side of the net should be exempt from the rules regarding newsgroup creation. Care to justify that? Please examine your own thoughts and feelings before you imply prejudice in others. The author of the quoted text will discount this entire article as being written by a defensive american bigot who has no cognizance of the rest of the world. That will also be for one of the 3 reasons above (well 1 or 3 anyway). I'm not sure I know why I bothered writing this. Prejudice can not be defeated by words. Bigots and hypocrites are one of my pet peeves and I had to get it out of my system. The author above is probably guilty of no more than negligent posting, but I've seen this opinion underlying many arguments on this topic, without being stated so plainly, that this was my first chance to point it out.
