I'm posting this for a friend who has no access to the newsgroup: "Is there a demo or freeware version of Minix on the Atari ST? I want to have a look at it before buying..." If there's no "official" demo version, is it safe (legally speaking) to make one, and what should be put in it (and what should not. I assume the sources would not be part of it). Actually, as it turns out, we are working on a demo disk right now. It will hold the full OS (binary), the shell, mined, and about 20 of the smallest filters, and come with a 30 page manual. It is intended to give a feel for what MINIX/UNIX is, and also to allow prospective users to see if it at least boots on their machine. Andy Tanenbaum (ast@cs.vu.nl)
