People,
Today someone asked me why ST-1.1 did not work on his Mega-2
with MegaFile-30. It just did not access the hard disk...
He tried recompiling the kernel with "debug" on, and this
seemed to work better: about 9% of the returned blocks are
the correct ones ...
My question to you: what is wrong here? It seems to be a
timing problem, since the (delaying) debug-code causes it
to behave better than without it...
On another matter: the 1040-ST.
A very friendly guy gave his old 1040, since he sold his other
1040, in order to buy an AT.
The one I got was working OK, but I needed to fix it a bit...
The missing parts are:
1. The 6301-chip in the keyboard .
2. The two big square chips in the Main Board; I believe
these are called "Memory Controller" and "Glue" resp.
3. The Power Supply.
This shouldn't be a problen; I can hook up any decent
power supply to it, I guess...
Does someone have a box of Spare Parts with these items in
it? In that case, I am interested...
Being the founder of NLMUG, I thought I should learn more
about ST-MINIX, since I only know how to hack MINIX-PC at
the moment...
Thanks for your help,
Fred van Kempen
