The program seems to do really well, though incredibly slow.  I ran a
quick (?)  test to see how comic would do under stress: I tested the
compression of a large news "history" file, the binary of "tex" and
concatanated sources for "byacc". Here are the results under a Sun 3/60.
Comic was compiled with GCC.

I'd say there is something to this program. Hey, so we would run it
overnight :-). Also, would it be possible to post comicgen sources?
