From: Ron Natalie <ron@Brl> Date: 24 Aug 82 17:15:42-EDT (Tue) The problem with the 4025 is not in the termcap, but is a drawback of the terminal itself. The terminal ORs the input command sequences coming from the computer with anything typed on the keyboard. Therefore as you are bouncing through the dungeons of rogue, your motion commands are becoming part of the cursor address commands comming from the computer (usually falling within the numeric fields, aborting the command). I don't think there is anyway to get around this. We had thought of hacking up a little program to play with the file descriptors to allow us to use the keyboard from one 4025 and the display of another (there were several adjacent to each other) but gave up. This is the termcap used at Tektronix for 4025s. There are more than 500 people using this termcap for over 2 years, so you might say its VERY well tested. While the bug talked about by Walter Scott (sri-unix.2992) has not been fixed on 4025s (in has been on 4025As), it does not cause much of a problem. I have to repaint the screen maybe once every 3 rogue games because of this problem and it never affects vi. There can be some timing problems with vi occasionally, but I've had more with our vt100 look-alikes and Ann Arbor Ambasadors. It certainly runs OK in full duplex. You do need to run programs that demand cursor motion in the workspace, but that can be done automatically in the te and ti termcap fields. This does require a 2nd termcap entry, which is unfortunate, but does not detract once that has been done.
