I've just bought an 386 based PC compatible and dug up my original 1.1 diskette set to see if Minix would boot. I get up to fsck and can fsck all 7 of the mountable disks with no problems, but when I install the root disk and try to boot, the system goes into an infinite loop of spining the diskette and not doing much else. Before I start debugging the problem, I thought I would see if maybe an upgrade was a better idea. My question to the group is: should I wait until August and buy the 1.5 upgrade; should I try to find somebody to get the upgrades from; or should I wait for the 386 version to be available? Reply directly and I will sumarize if there is interest: apd!fouts@ingr.com ...!pyramid!garth!fouts Thanks, Marty -- Martin Fouts UUCP: ...!pyramid!garth!fouts ARPA: apd!fouts@ingr.com PHONE: (415) 852-2310 FAX: (415) 856-9224 MAIL: 2400 Geng Road, Palo Alto, CA, 94303 If you can find an opinion in my posting, please let me know.
