Hello: Sorry if this is awkward, but I'm posting by typing directly into the server. I just purchased a new hard disk controller, a WD1006V-SR2. I am running Minix 1.5.9/386 (Bruce's version). Whenever the system encounters a disk error, it hangs. Pressing F1 shows me that WINCHE is waiting for HARDWA. I'm guessing that it is expecting an interrupt that isn't received. The disk access light remains on. The only way I have out of this is to reset. I have run this kernel on another computer, but that machine has no disk errors to test it with. Has anyone experienced problems with recovering from disk errors before. I will continue to try and determine if it is the controller's fault or the operating system. I just requested the data book from Western Digital. Please respond by mail, and I'll post a summary. Thanks, dbrown@ucsd.edu David Brown
