I have recently been porting non-Minix software into Minix. When I was running Minix in 16-bit mode and using the ack compiler, most of the good stuff didn't just compile. Then I got Bruce's 32-bit diffs and his C-compiler. Most of the problems encountered in 16-bit mode were solved by that. But Bruce's compiler don't have bitfields (neither has the ack compiler...) and it cannot compile functions which return a structure. So I take Gnu-C compiler sources into minix and tried to compile them with bcc. No luck. I could now cross-compile the compiler in a bigger unix machine, but maybe someone has done it already. I have heard that Minix ST users use gcc, but I havent seen a gcc for Minix386 version in any archives. So if someone knows where to get one, please let me know. Otherwise I'll try the cross-compiling next week. Thanks in advance... Ari Suutari, ats@lut.fi | ari@hilti.lpr.carel.fi Lappeenranta, FINLAND PS. I Agree that small is beautiful. gcc isn't that. But it's a good compiler anyway ....
