[comp.os.minix] Can one get a full 1.5 minix dist.?

rgc@wam.umd.edu (Ross Garrett Cutler) (07/26/90)

Hello *,
Isn't there a regular posting of common Q&As for this group. I've been
reading this group for almost a month now and have not run across it.
Anyway:

Is there a full 1.5.* version of Minix for the PC via FTP without
going through all of the upgrades. I've toyed around with 1.0, but
I don't have 1.3.*. Is it against AST's publishing contract to put
out a full distribution? Thanks in advance...

Yup, you might want to try NLMUG Advanced MINIX, version 1.5.10D-PC/286.
It is a complete 1.5.10-distribution (bins, src, doc), with a couple of
extra features to make it a better system to _work_ with.

Contact me by email if you are interested.

Well, the license says "Limited copying for educational purposes is
allowed...", but I think we should not try to take advantage of that.

Neither AST, or anyone else on this network may make "freely" available
a complete distribution of MINIX, since that would allow people to get
it for free...

Therefore, NLMUG only ships out the NLMUG distribution to members, who
already have an "official" edition of MINIX...

Hope this helps a bit,
