[comp.os.minix] Compaq IDE controller?

greg@turbo.atl.ga.us (Greg Montgomery) (08/27/90)

In the FAQ, it said Minix worked on a Compaq 386. I have a 386s with a
Conner IDE drive. Has anyone gotten a 386s to work on Minix, or does the
Compaq 386 have the same hard drive as the 386s? Also, is there a
devicer-driver kit out for Minix, and if so, (generally) is it hard to
write drivers for hard drives? I have a Plus International Passport
removable drive, and would like to know if I can write a driver for it
(or hopefully one's already written!). Sorry if these questions have
been asked before...

Greg

I had to work around some problems, such as the fact that the INT41 (pointer
to the hard drive parameters) pointed to an area that got overwritten by MINIX.
I was told that those problems have been fixed in 1.5. Send me a message i
