Based on my experience, the problem with the AED-512 as an alpha
terminal is not so much it's lack of spiffy alpha-terminal features
(smart cursor manipulation, etc) as the absolutely intolerable
brain-damaged keyboard that is guaranteed to drive any programmer/typist
insane in less than 60 seconds. Masochists love it, everyone else reaches
for their Sledge-O-Matic. Couple that with the abnormally short line
(around 60 characters) and you get an arrangement that ranks right up
with video tapes of Howard Cosell as all-time great torture devices.

ps: As a graphics terminal, it's somewhat better, but it still has
more than it's share of flakes. Flickers like a banshee, has
the best glare-screen in the business (GLARES like you wouldn't
believe), and much more. But that's a separate story.
