I am a computer science student and all my years in universities have been spent programming on VMS or similar systems with some asides on MSDOS, now I learn that over 90% of the jobs in my chosen field are requesting some experience with systems programming in UNIX. I cannot afford to buy my own copy of UNIX or Xenix but I can afford MINIX. What I would like to know is if having programmed in MINIX I will have gained experience in programming UNIX or if they are not the same thing at all as far as programming is concerned. Please, if you have something to say, say it. If the volume of messages is sufficient I will post a summary here and to other groups of interest. Thank you for all assistance.
