In <10717@life.ai.mit.edu> cracraft@ai.mit.edu (Stuart Cracraft) comes up with a proposal to split this newsgroups. His arguments are: | As a PC Minix user, I am not interested in Macintosh or | Amiga Minix users except at the utility program level | and some libraries. Please keep in mind that from the MINIX design viewpoint there's no way at all you would split the newsgroup. MINIX users on different platforms share the same code, even for major parts of the OS (FS, MM). Of course there are differences at the kernel level. Every MINIX user who develops a new program is urged to distribute the source code of his/her wonderful tool, not a uuencoded binary image of the program. The interface to all MINIX-es should be the same on all architectures: I should be able to compile and run any well-written user program on ST-MINIX, no matter if it was written on PC-MINIX, MAC-MINIX of WHATEVER-MINIX. By the way, the traffic in this newsgroups is not heavy enough to justify a split-up. thanks for your time, --[ Edwin ]-- -- Edwin Kremer (SysAdm), Dept. of Computer Science, Utrecht University Padualaan 14, P.O.
