I own a copy of the Tanenbaum book that contains the source code for Minix that is copyright 1987 by Prentice-Hall, and the Copyright statement says that private individuals may redistribute the source and binaries of Minix freely to other individuals for educational and research purposes. Does this allow the redistribution of the source on disk? The statement does not prohibit it, in fact, it seems to encourage just this kind of transfer. If this is the case, I would appreciate someone sending me an unmodified copy of the source code that I could use in conjuction with the book for studying operating systems. If I am incorrect, would someone please tell me what specific statement prohibits this redistribution or what version of Minix revoked the rights that this one gives. Thanks for your time. Robert Jones p.s. I am sorry if I am beating a dead horse on this, but I haven't seen it mentioned thus far.
