Please, could somebody help me on a subject filter which enable me to junk all the subjects containing non AT 286 descriptions. Thanks, Frans Hubb

Hi, By virtue of the nature of Minix, there is VERY little to be gained by automatically trashing the bulk of the mail on the net that isn't specific to a particular machine. Discussion about MacMinix may yield a new insight for '386 users, or a new discovery in the Amiga version may yield improved methods for something on an Atari. The point of the news net is not HARDWARE BIGOTRY, but is the support and evolution of a rather unique programming concept and environment. In other words, if you want news about your AT, then go out and buy PC World; otherwise, if you want to learn about Minix, stay tuned. I, for one, am bored to death with requests from people who want their particular (rather than the group's) interests held above all others. I don't think the net should be broken into forums, and the volume of traffic on this one just doesn't warrant adding anything to filter out messages. At the rate of 20 messages a day, it just wouldn't make any difference and many people would miss out on important (although possibly tangential) issues, questions, and answers. Thank you for your time; you can have the soapbox now. Dave Burgess, SSgt USAF School of Aerospace Medicine.
