Hi everyone, I received my copy of Minix 1.5 (PC) a couple days ago and have been having fun and frustration with the OS. I took me two attempts to install it on the XT's RLL drive (a DTK XT and a Kalox drive with a wd rll controller). It worked with the universal boot disk. I do have a lot of trouble at times booting the OS from the floppy root file system, and at times from the hd root file system. Messages such as these oftn greet me: Loading RAM disk Debug exception process number 1, pc = 0x15F0x00000065 or kernil panic: exception in kernel mm or fs Type any key to reboot. Is this normal? They sometimes come in bunches, that is I don't have any trouble booting minix then all of a sudden I can't boot the OS for an hour. Does not seem to make much of a difference whether its a cold or warm boot either... One specifi question I'd like to ask concerns ps. I get the message: Can't read kernel namelist: No such file or directory evertime I type ps. What do I have to do to create a namelist? All in all very neat and fun and well worth the money. P-H seems to be much better than I had expected :-) --- chris brougham brog@sloth.wimsey.bc.ca
