Hi, there I have my A310 for almost a year and a half now, and as time went by it got some upgrades to make me even more happy with it. Now i have 4MB RAM and a 50MB SCSI harddisc and i believe this is the same configuration the old R140 had (correct me if i'm wrong). So I think of installing Unix on it now (don't understand me wrong, RISC-OS is great, but UNIX is the standard). The first step was to ask my local dealer CEBAS Heidelberg (for most of the time in my life I live in Bavaria, I'm only studying here in Buffalo). They said they could not do anything, so I asked Archive in Norwich, UK . Here I was told to connect the Acorn user service, which led me further on to an acorn Unix dealer in Lodon (i don't remember his name), who said that it is not possible to buy Unix without an R140 (or R240). So I have now some questions to the world: 1. Is it possible to run Unix on such an upgraded machine? 2. Where can I get the acorn Unix package? (without an additional computer) 3. How can I get this (as I heard it Unix with X-Windows lies in the range of 10 MB or more) 4. Is there any ethernet podule for the archimedes existing and what are the costs? I don't care where from the acorn Unix comes, or if anybody has transfered Minix on the Archimedes and would be able to give it to me. Looking for Archimedes Guru jung@einstein.physics.buffalo.edu
