Recently there has been some discussion on people wanting to implement their own file systems (e.g. Berkeley FFS etc). Now, I remember Mr. Tanenbaum talking about a FSS for the new Minix (1.6 ?) in order to support both POSIX compliance and backward compatibility. It seems to me that work is going to be duplicated, people creating their own versions etc. Andy, could I persuade you to post something about the new multiple FS interface in Minix ? This way people can develop their own FS if they want, but then FS' just become an 'installable driver'. Anyone wanting to write a DOS FS :-) I assume the system would consist of a "master" FS that holds the process file tables, dispatching all the work to other processes ?
