As a sort-of response to the recent negative comments regarding the 386 patches, I'd like to say that: 1) I just upgraded from PH1.2 to Bruce's 386 in four days 2) YEAHHH! Full, 16-bit compress! Zoo works! Full kermit (I think it's version 5C, not the latest, I'm certain). 3) It wasn't that tough. At least, not for someone who had 1.3 running on a TRS-1000/A with a second party HD a couple years ago... And 1.4d... The point (if this post can be said to have one) is that the patches went in as easily as my 386sx motherboard, i.e. if you can swap the latter, the former isn't a big deal. The only downers are bcc's lack of FP (not that ACK was any better...) and the structure passing problem. The structures have only bitten me mildly, so far, in cpdir.c, but I keep wondering where/when it might rear it's ugly head again (ttt.c doesn't matter to me, and I haven't yet dug out the BSD curses package to check it out. The included curses is probably best left out, considering the annoying, but apparently inconsequential, redefinitions of _fatal, etc.) Is there anyone out there that's gotten the 1.5 virtual console stuff working under 386? I haven't tried it yet, but thought I'd ask first, so long as I'm blathering on... I really liked it in the 1.5.10 '286 mode... And, finally, what's the address to get into the minix-refs? I'm ready and willing to try out new stuff, criticise it, attempt debugging it, etc. and always like to see things before as many others as possible :-) Don. -- Don Wennick | dwennick@polari.UUCP -or- donw@rwing.UUCP "subhuman bloodless leaders fed on lies and fear / and TV anchor news teams trim all we see and hear / use your head / sidestep the traps / snake through the chaos with a smooth noodle map" - Devo
