A sidenote to the recent DZ <-> DH debate. We used to run a single 8 line DZ-11 on our 11/44 and were forced to run terminals at speeds no greater than 2400 baud to avoid nailing the system with interrupts. We now have an able DH/DM (16 lines) in addition to the DZ-11 (and hopefully we will get another DH/DM) and run the DH terminals at 9600->19.2k baud..From what little benchmark data I could get it seems that the DH at 9600 baud and twice as many terminals has an overall system impact of only 1/4 to 1/2 that of the DZ. Another thing I did was to increase the CLIST block size from 14 to 30 characters to increase DMA efficiency.... Greg Travis pur-ee!isrnix!greg
