[comp.os.minix] Macminix gettydefs & Dial-in access

kornel@ucs.sfu.ca (Jude Kornelsen) (11/24/90)

Hello. I have been up and running with Macminix for about a week now.
With the help of all the netters, including Joe Pickert, I was able
to get it up in reasonable time. I am running a SE w/ 20 meg HD and 2.5 megs
RAM, so the various 68000 problems with the distribution apply --
anyone know how to get this beast to cohabit with multifinder? At any rate,
after patching ps, and cron, and having rebuilt the system without
a hitch (except ps still doesn't work), I am to the point where I'd like
to try having someone dial in on /dev/tty2. I am dialing out okay, and
kermit works like a charm for file transfer, but I haven't been able
to get the dial-in program to work. I seem to remember a post mentioning
that the /etc/gettydefs file was missing. I have certainly found this to be so.
After hacking up modem.c I managed to get the modem to accept incoming calls.
Now, the problem is, how do I bind getty to tty2 to handle the incoming user?

I am assuming this is a simple matter of getting the missing gettydefs file.
If anyone knows the solution to this problem &/or has the serial port
configured in Macminix to accept incoming calls, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help?
