Hi! Since I moved to Princeton I have been having problems with kermit and rz, sz when running Minix. I don't think that it is a bug, but a network problem (as somebody who answered my old posting suggested). Anyway, the problem is that I cannot send or receive anything from the campus machines, which are all connected to a campus-wide network. It seems that the network accepts only 7-bit characters. That explains why rz and sz won't work, I think, but what about kermit? I don't have any problem when running kermit under TOS (except that I have to uuencode everything!). I am probably doing something stupid. The parity bit is off, by the way. Has anybody had any similar experience(s), or knows the solution to the problem? Ah, if I connect to the network I was using before coming here (long-distance calls!), the problem does not appear, presumably because it uses true 8-bit characters. What puzzles me most is that kermit should not stop working, since it was developed with this kind of problems in mind. Anyway, sorry for the use of bandwidth, but I would really appreciate any help.
