I have just purchased version 1.5 for the IBM-PC, as a result of a failed attempt to upgrade from version 1.3. I am amazed to find that version 1.5 is more sensitive to the hardware on which it runs than version 1.3. My home machine (an AT clone with 1mb memory) which used to run version 1.3 quite happily (booted from AT boot disk) now refuses to run either from the AT boot disk or the Universal Boot Disk. The symptoms are very odd indeed; and anyone who can shed some light on the following odd behavior will be forever in my debt. Scenario 1: Boot from AT Boot disk, Menu appears, type "=", "u" or "d" hangs machine. Scenario 2: Boot from Universal Boot disk, Menu appears, type "=" following occurs: Memory Size = 0K MINIX = 154K RAM Disk = 130K Available = -284K Type any key to reboot Scenario 3: Boot from Universal Boot disk, Menu appears, type "d" following occurs: Memory manager panic: not enough memory for RAM disk Executing in real mode ...then machine hangs. Any ideas ?? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- m.hessling@qut.edu.au
