I've seen several references to "this may be fixed in 1.6" and the like. Is 1.6 an official release, and if so, when is it expected? -- John R. Let's hope it will be `Real soon now' in the way Atari usually announces new products. ;-) I'm not against improvements, but 1.6 - as it is circulating - as reputed to be a mess. I hope Andy will refrain from releasing it officially. This also because any us non-IBMmers are struggling to keep his pace, since most of his changes won't apply to our Minices. The ST fs & mm are at most _comparable_, and the kernel defeats comparison. It also simply needs cleaning up. When that's done, new extensions/improvements will be easyer to keep portable. I hope Andy will refrain from releasing it officially. I for one love a good mess. Part of the fun of Minix is accumulating all these little patches and other goodies that come over the net and actually turning them into a robust, working system. I've been looking forward to the appearence of 1.6 for a long while and would be most disappointed were it not released. Don't forget, 1.5 was also a mess and it took several minor revisions to get it into shape. The end result was well worth having. >This also because any us non-IBMmers are struggling to keep his pace, I know at least one ST'er who is dying to get hold of 1.6. Once the IBM version of 1.6 is out, no doubt lots of folk will start adapting it to other machines. Anyone feel inclined to send me the beta 1.6? Cheers, Andrew P.S. I now have ksh working, thanks to Earl's patches and some minor ones of my own in "edit.c". It's an excellent shell and I'm using it all the time. I'd be happy to help anyone who's having trouble with it.
