Hi all, I am *still* tring to upgrade Minix!! Since I am having numerous problems with the hard disk on my '286, I decided it might be better to do the upgrade on my SPARCStation (patching, etc.) and then install the patched code back on the '286. (After a low-level format of the $&@#$&!@ disk!!) The problem: Since the '286 is not on our network at all, I will have to do the following convoluted steps to get Minix source from the distribution diskettes to my SPARC: 1) Do a "doswrite" for every file on the distribution diskette to the DOS drive on my '286. (ugh) 2) Copy all files to a DOS diskette. 3) On a PC connected to the network, FTP the contents of the diskette to my SPARC. 4) Unpack the files and patch away. Luckily, the patch files are already on the SPARC!! Needless to say, this will take awhile. Does anyone have/know of a DOS program that can read a Minix filesystem diskette directly to a DOS formatted hard drive? This would allow me to skip steps 1 and 2, which would greatly reduce the time it would take to complete this process. Any helpful hints on the feasibility of this scheme? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks, -- Greg Larkin (ASIC Engineer) Viewlogic Systems, Inc.
